Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Sun Defense For Face SPF50 50 ml Review

Thoughts:

Not water/sweat proof (but it is not claiming to be either, just a note), it turned patchy with white streaks and started pilling

At the same time while being moisturizing, also feels slightly thick/greasy

Leaves skin shiny

- Fragrance lingers all day and it is not all that pleasant even though not horrible either (chemical citrusy)

- Irritated my eyes during sweating

Leaves that slight "film" on face, it is not very visible or bad though (but no whitecast)

Very moisturizing, I don't need a moisturizer underneath

No white cast (but slight cast of something, like a film)

Works well under makeup, no pilling but I don't know what would happen if you would sweat

Overall not irritating (except to my eyes sometimes)

Doesn't seem to clog my skin (at least not badly, I'm still not sure about this, might never know)

* I got Elizabeth Arden's Eight Hour Sun Defence SPF50 as a gift and I had requested it as well. I got it last summer. I wanted to try different sunscreens and this one didn't have alcohol or Avobenzone. Trying different sunscreens is useful and I have learned a lot! But it has been a pricy journey as well.

It is certainly true... brand name or higher price doesn't mean something is necessarily better. Or better for my skin and preferences, to be more precise.

Price:

Around 32 € / 50 ml, quite often on -30% sale

Bought from:

Got as a gift

Buy again?

No.

Worth the money?

Unfortunately, not for me. Maybe for someone with a dry or mature skin. I have used more pleasant sunscreens that cost half the price! So I would rather buy for example Derma Sun Lotion SPF30 or Garnier Sensitive Advanced Face Super UV Fluid SPF50+. I think I would value Elizabeth Arden's Sun Defence For Face around 10 €. It is not a bad sunscreen but I just don't think it is worth the price and there are better options for me.

Rexona Maximum Protection Sport Strength 48h Stick Antiperspirant 45ml Review

Ingredients:

Cyclopentasiloxane, Aluminum Zirconium Tetrachlorohydrex GLY, Dimethicone, Cera Microcrystallina, Paraffin, Parfum, Silica, Sodium Starch Octenylsuccinate, Maltodextrin, Hydrolysed Corn Starch, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, BHT, Alpha–Isomethyl Ionone, Benzyl Alcohol, Benzyl Cinnamate, Benzyl Salicylate, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Cinnamyl Alcohol, Citral, Citronellol, Coumarin, Geraniol, Hexyl Cinnamal, Hydroxycitronellal, Limonene, Linalool.

I try to mark the sunscreen ingredients in red and other possible irritants in lilac. Ingredients thought to be good and useful for skin I mark green.  Learning as I go, google is my friend etc...

Thoughts:

Again, it is always a minus when product promises to do anything and everything and it is just not possible. Doesn't last 48 hrs, doesn't keep me "dry"

Price

Confusing line up and names

Seems to be effective the whole day (10-12 hrs) even though I have been sweating. If no sweating, lasts 24 hrs easily. Wouldn't say 48 hrs though!

I feel my armpits are a bit more dry, there's less sweat production, mayyybe 30% less or so?

Even if I smell a bit in the evening, it is not so "ranchy" or "pungent" and doesn't project, it is more soft sweat and less itchy (I bet everyone loves imagining a horrible sweat smell now)

Scent is ok, very unisex. It lingers the whole day slightly though and feels a bit strong when applied.

When applied, dries fast. I think in 3-5 minutes.

Easy to find in stores nearby.

Interesting way to apply, you twist the roll on the bottom and the cream product comes out through little holes. No waste.

* I've been using Rexona's Maximum Protection Antiperspirant only for about 2 weeks, and before that I tested my other new antiperspirant from Nivea. Nivea Antiperspirant Ultimate Protect 48h seemed to work (after using 1 week) very similarly to Lidl's Cien Men Aqua Antiperspirant. I think it just felt more nice to use because the bottle is glass and the roll is more precise and even scent more feminine and faded faster than Cien Men Aqua, but ultimately they work the same for sweating for me and they even use the same active ingredient (Aluminum Chlorohydrate). Cien is cheaper (about 0,8 € vs Nivea about 2,5 €) and I've been using it for a long time but now I feel like it's not working as well as it used to.

I'm not sure why Rexona has so many different Maximum Protection Antiperspirants with slightly different names, and some of them are cream sticks and some roll-ons - I looked at the ingredient lists and they look the same. So I am concluding, the difference is the scent? They all use Aluminum Zirconium Tetrachlorohydrex GLY as the active ingredient.

I chose Sport Strength blindly, because I didn't have any experience beforehand.

Compared to Cien Men Aqua (and Nivea Ultimate Protect) Rexona is definitely more powerful. It is also definitely more pricy at almost 10 € without any discount.

I just bought Absolut Torr Antiperspirant roll-on (8,6 €), that I haven't seen before. Haven't gotten it yet, but Absolut Torr is famous for helping with sweating, and I might have tried the liquid dabbing form when I was teenager. Absolutely destroyed my armpits though, the mix of strong antiperspirants and treatments I used. But I'm ready to try again.

Price:

9,90 € / 45 ml

Bought from:

Supermarket

Buy again?

Maybe. Can tell better later when I've checked out the competition.

Worth the money?

I am just starting out to test different antiperspirants but I can already say that Rexona's Maximum Protection line is very good, probably best antiperspirant that can be bought in supermarket so far. But it clearly fights in the same ring with pharmacy products with its price and I haven't tried enough pharmacy antiperspirants (like Absolut Torr/TripleDry) right now to say if it is better than them. I hate paying a lot of money for daily basic products that run out fast. But I would say it is worth the price for me right now and if I see it on sale (like -30-50%) I think I am going to grab a couple more!

Current Favorites

I have been very boring lately and using less products. Here are the current basics!

The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA

The most boring, cheap, good cream.

Avant Moisture Surge Overnight Treatment

I was a little doubtful if my skin would tolerate this cream when I received it from Lookfantastic Advent Calendar 2019. It has so many oils, shea butter, I think even mineral oil (paraffin)... but look at that, it is funnily thick, nourishing balm cream, and my skin likes it for the night. Smells very light and nice too. I would repurchase if it were half the price! It costs something like 80-90 € which is just insane.

Nivea Q10 plus C Anti-Wrinkle + Energy Eye Cream

Can't complain about anything! No scent, absorbs well, no irritation, no milia. Not a super moisture bomb though if you are looking for that. Good affordable basic.

Differin Adapalene Gel 0.1%

Differin is so great. Nothing else to say.

Very fluid, starts absorbing and disappearing immediately when rubbed.

Thoughts:

Leaves skin medium level shiny, I would say. Not a disco ball, but I need powder if I want to look presentable.

Because it is so fluidy, it is difficult to eye ball a correct measure. I can see people using easily too little (tiny amount spreads so well) or way too much (I am able to layer this many times)

Have to remember to shake the bottle and be careful when opening it, it spills a bit for me

Mild fragrance, first I smelled alcohol and soon almost nothing.

Doesn't feel greasy to the touch.

Zero white cast (no physical filters)

Easy to layer a lot, doesn't pill on itself.

Interestingly, it doesn't feel drying, even when I am using retinoids. Contains alcohol denat.

Works under all the make up products that I have. No pilling, caking, etc.

So far, hasn't irritated my eyes (I don't apply on eye contour however) even during summer. Seems to stay put quite well, doesn't seem to migrate a lot.

Doesn't feel clogging. And my skin gets clogged easily.

* I just bought this sunscreen, so can't give a proper review just yet. But thought to post photos anyway because I tried to google before purchasing and couldn't find much. This is a new product, yes? I don't remember seeing it last summer... but I'm not sure. The description is a bit like La Roche Posay's famous Shaka Fluid that I haven't tested yet. EDIT: I have updated my review.

Next I'll test this one with different base makeup products and outside while running and sweating.

I've been avoiding things with alcohol but now with better skin barrier and routine I'll try again! No irritation yet.

Price:

about 13 € / 40 ml, on sale/online I've seen as low as 7 €

Bought from:

Supermarket

Buy again?

Yes, actually I have, a backup.

Worth the money?

Yes, especially if you can catch it on sale (my country is expensive) or online. But it is definitely pleasant and elegant enough that I would pay the full price again. I would recommend Garnier Sensitive Advanced Face Super UV Fluid for all skin types.
