Empties (and trash) Since April 2020

My empties/trash from April to May, so 2 months' worth. My mission is to tackle my oldest products first, be it using them if they seem fine or trashing them if they are badly expired. My bad habit is to use only 2/3 of something and then leave it. It is strangely difficult for me to throw things out if there is something left, even if the product is 10 years old and I haven't used it for 9 years!

Face

Clinique High Impact Mascara Mini

For the first 2-3 months, it was constantly smudging badly within hours. In the last months I used it, it smudged only a little compared to the beginning (still too messy for me though). So maybe it just dried enough to be usable or the weather changed enough. Anyway, I liked the natural but full results and it didn't irritate my eyes. I could buy another mascara from Clinique, either the waterproof or the lash power one. It's a good question why I still have this mascara in my stash over a year from opening it.

Isadora Insane Volume Lash Styler Mascara

I'm so pissed at myself for ruining this mascara by keeping it hiding in my drawer for like, Idk, 5-6 years?!! It looked all weird and clumpy when I finally found and opened it. But I still tried it a couple of times and it did not irritate eyes and actually didn't smudge a lot. The brush is way too big and difficult in my opinion though - maybe I have very small eyes. I could purchase more Isadora mascaras.

Mizon Great Pure Cleansing Oil

Finally this is finished! I even had to take my other cleansing oils out of the bathroom for a while to get me to use Mizon's again. It doesn't break me out, it takes off makeup, but it is just so annoying and time consuming to wash off and I don't like the scent. Bought in 2018.

Differin Adapalene Gel 0.1%

I really, really like Differin and I think it smoothes my skin. Differin is truly one of the best things I have encountered for a while. I stopped using Differin for maybe 2 months now? I think I got slightly depressed because of covid-19 and didn't care and developed a lot small pimples. But once I started again, my skin was all better within 2 weeks.

Clio Glow Sun Base SPF50+

I must say... I like the scent a lot. Doesn't work with all my base products. Burns my eyes if I sweat/during summer. Zero white cast, glowy/shiny finish, doesn't still feel greasy. Very moisturizing, I can skip moisturizer and use the sun base as all in one in the morning when I don't do makeup and I'm just at home (a lot during last months...). So not a summer product for me, glad I finished in winter/spring time. Not sure if I would repurchase, probably not. But I wouldn't be against to using this again as a winter time home sunscreen.

Dr. Young CentellaSCA Cream

Ok gel cream! Behaves well, leaves skin smooth, doesn't pill, no fragrance. Not enough on its own usually but a bit squalane with it is all that's needed. I don't think this cream is spectacular and probably I'm not going to repuchase but I would use it again if a tube miraculously showed up (or would be in a mega sale). But it never irritated my skin, strangely I could call it somewhat soothing too, but maybe it is just the gel consistency that feels nice. Bought at the end of 2017.

The Body Shop Aloe Eye Cream

Probably 4 years old or so. Barely used, sadly. My partner got milia from using this and I think it irritated my eyes. How is this possible, I don't know. Wasn't a cheap eye cream either, a similar product is sold now for almost 20 €! So a guilty purchase that has lived as a trash in my drawer ever since.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Targeted Gel

Another old thing I never really used... but didn't throw away either. I don't think this gel does anything (for my skin) and it's very expensive for what it is.

Etude House Mirror Holic Liquid Eyes Glossy Coating

Maybe 2-3 years old...? Impulse purchase, thought glossy eyes would look cute. But this whole thing was just kinda disgusting and irritated my eyes. Didn't stay put, stayed sticky.

Samples

I really tried to remember to hit my sample stash now! No reason to try to save anything for travelling either because this year there will be no travelling due to corona virus... And let's face it, my samples are old, most expiring this year. My skin hasn't been too happy about this constant change in products though.

Body

The Body Shop Spa Of The World Balkan Juniper Body Wash

Ok body wash. I like "forest scents", but this wasn't quite what I was hoping for so will not repurchase. But I still want to try at least Moringa Body Wash from TBS. Or Moringa Body Scrub. Or the British Rose.

Cien Men Aqua 48h Antiperspirant

Another one of these. But I can definitely feel that not quite so effective as the weather gets warmer now.

Hair

L'Oreal Elvital Extraordinary OIL Oil in Cream

This is another oldie. 5 years, perhaps? There was still some left so I took the rest to shower and used as a hair mask a couple of times. I'm surprised to learn this cream includes mostly coconut oil! My hair seems to like it.

L'Oreal Elvital Extraordinary Oil Conditioner

Pretty nice cheap conditioner, smells nice too... also probably 3 years old. But finally finished it!

L'Oréal Paris Stylista #Beachwaves The Beach Wave Mist

Good stuff! Easy to use, took about a year to finish I think? I have repurchased. Not a miracle maker but gives some natural looking volume that is easy to wash off.

Shopping from April to May

Purchases from April to May so 2 months. About 56 € (plus Tigerlily gift). Mostly replacements, but I am not proud because I know I would have bought more if things would have been available as usual...

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Gel Wash

L'Oreal Paris Stylista #Beachwaves The Beach Wave Mist

Biozell Professional Color Tech Espresso Intensiivinen Sävyte/Semipermanent Color

Micellar Gel is a regular repurchase/replacement. The Beach Wave Mist is also a repurchase/replacement, I was considering trying another beach/salt hair mist but I thought, this is cheap and works well, so... The Biozell Color is something totally new I'm trying because I don't know when I'm able to go to hair salon and I want to refresh my hair color but not do a home dye because it is such a hassle.

Nivea Antiperspirant Ultimate Protect 48h x2

Rexona Maximum Protection Sport Strength 48h

Trying new antiperspirants after a long while! There are so many different Maximum Protections from Rexona that I just blindly picked one. If I like it, I might try other ones as well. I remember using something decent from Nivea once and these were on sale 2 for 1 basically. I did take a look at pharmacy antiperspirants as well, but in ideal world I could find something suitable in supermarket (cheaper, easier to get). I count these as replacements.

Essence The Blush in 30 Breathtaking

Shimmering Skin Perfector Luminous Blush in Tigerlily

Essence Stay 8 h Waterproof Lipliner in 01 Because Duh

I received Tigerlily as a gift and it is so pretty! Even the packaging is sturdy and feels well-made. It is like a better version of my favorite L'oreal blush, Life's a Peach. Well, L'oreal is a tiny bit lighter, brighter, without the golden shimmer, also more sheer, more hard pressed into the pan (it has started to develop a hard pan also but it is my fault probably because I go back to pick it up with a brush like 4-5 times so that I can build up the intensity). Tigerlily is a bit more orange, and on my face very true to pan color (some people say it looks more coral when worn). Also Tigerlily doesn't have a scent so it is already so much better than the disgusting peach fragrance that L'oreal blush has. I think Tigerlily is almost perfect! I just wish it would have more golden shimmer.

Essence's Stay 8h Waterproof Lipliner is actually a very good product and I've been using my older one in Tea Time a lot. I regretted not getting Because Duh earlier so I did now and it's a great shade as well. Actually, I think the whole range looks great and wearable and I could get more. I hope Essence doesn't discontinue these for a while. But it seems Essence discontinues and reformulates everything within a year or so almost. The blush in Breathtaking was a moment of insanity because I thought that I have nothing in this shade but actually on skin it looks very familiar, coral leaning pink-red. Great matte-ish shade though and the other ones I have are shimmery! But this is the point when I actually start to have dupes within my own collection so I have to do more research before purchasing.

I truly seem to have a type when it comes to blushes! Always the same shades.
If anyone knows a dupe for the super old tiny Rimmel blush strip, please tell me! I bought the blush maybe 8-10 years ago, it has 3 strips of color but this darkest bright coral one is divine.

BTB13 Sensitive Facial Toner

EKOPHARMA Helsinki Herukka Puhdistusemulsio / Blackcurrant Cleansing Emulsion

I've been interested in these Finnish brands for a while! So when I saw there were a few travel sizes and a slight discount available I took the plunge. They have a lot of products I'd like to try, for example BTB13 Berry Oil. The cleansing emulsion I like so far even though it smells like my grandma's place from my childhood and I used to hate that smell (stuffy rose/herbal smell) and it slightly tickles my nostrils. It cleanses well at least non-waterproof sunscreen and a bit of makeup and the bottle is very sturdy (I would take this for a travel). I think I should get more into emulsion/cream type cleansers in general.

I ordered from Hillankauppa.fi. Everything was packaged and I got 2 sample sachets and some pamphlets with the order.
